RSP (Friends of Children)
“Friends of Children” (FoC) is a Regular Service Project under NTU Welfare Services Club, which is one of the three biggest non-academic clubs in NTU. It started off as a special project under Elders in year 2002 and became a club on its own in year 2006. At FoC, we mainly provide free academic coaching, mentoring and life-skills learning to children from low-income families on a weekly basis.
Apart from the weekly mentoring, our club also organizes events that can hone and impart life skills to our beneficiaries on a semi-annual basis. We have two interactive annual events, one in June and one in December, for beneficiaries and volunteers from all centres, We believe that the events would be wonderful learning experiences for both our beneficiaries and volunteers.
To date, we have 13 regular service programmes under eight family service centres and students care centres, namely:
Altogether, there are approximately 300 FoC club members volunteering at these centres. The outreach we have has spanned across the whole of Singapore but nevertheless, it is always the vision of the club to expand and reach out to more children in need of academic mentoring and psychological growth.
